At the end of this sermon, you will desire and appreciate God even more and love Him with your whole heart and don’t joke with Him. God is extremely serious with you all.
Intro
Have you ever promised to bless someone with a condition to be good? That is if you are good you are blessed and if you are not not good I will withhold your blessing.
As long as the law existed, it was very hard to get the promise, the law kept pointing to disqualification because of sin and becoming cursed (Romans 4: 14; Romans 5:20, Galatians 3:10 -14).
In the bible there are two primary ways to be blessed (Romans 4:13-14): By works (law) which highlights I have done A,B,C and kept all the law and so bless me. The second one, is Lord, I believe in your finished works (fulfilled the law) and I am blessed because of Jesus Christ.
Message Scriptures
Galatians 3:8; Romans 4:13-16 (NKJV, NLT)
The law made it difficult for the people to be blessed and in fact they were caused because they could not keep it (Galatians 3:10).
Christ came to fulfil the requirement of the law - to become cursed and abolish it for you and I so that God’s blessing came to rest upon us without the law (Galatians 3:13-14; Romans 10:4).
The bible makes it clear that the just shall live by faith not the law! (Gal 3:11-12).
The case of Abraham points out he could not be justified by works because it was not possible for him to be blessed at that level by works (Romans 4:1-5).
Works are of the flesh, faith is of the spirit and an activator of the blessing.
Relevance to you and applications
I start by mentioning this - Jesus Christ always have a problem with people wanting to justify themselves by works - what works shall I do (John 6:28), what shall I do to inherit eternal life (Luke 10:25-26), good teacher (Matthew 19:16-22; Luke 18:18-23).
I believe (John 6:28-29) and receive the promises of God because I believe in all that Jesus Christ has done (fulfilling the law) and not because of what I have done (Gal 3:13-14).
The blessing of God is secured for you because Jesus has fulfilled the conditions (law) to receive it.
The blessing of God - spiritual (peace, joy, Holy Spirit), soul (sound mind, power) and physical (material blessings, divine health). (Gal 3:13-14; 29).
The devil cannot rob you off your blessing, kick him out, remind Him my blessing is secured in christ jesus
In conclusion
The blessing of the Lord is certain and secured in Christ for you, keep on believing in His finished works. The just shall live by faith, not work!
